U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Aaron N. Holleyman, 27, of Glasgow, Montana, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, based in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, was killed on August 30, 2004, when his military vehicle hit an improvised explosive device in Khutayiah, Iraq. He is survived by his daughters Shelby and Erin, son Zachary, parents Ross and Glenda, and siblings Kelly and Daniel.

Rest day.

Great work yesterday, everyone that was able to participate...which was far more people than I expected due to how challenging that WOD appeared even on paper.  A few of you were able to actually do the swim part as well on your own, very cool (Shane, Nick and Alyssa)!!  As I was the last one to WOD last night...laying there for about 15 minutes before I could function normally again...I fully understood why so many of you sat there like zombies for so long upon completion. 

For the Team WOD / Bring A Friend Day tomorrow 08/25/2012  --  8 AM: 

We will be meeting at Lakeside High as we did on the 4th of July.  I will be there well before 8 am setting up.  Please, if you are bringing a friend...come a little early so they can fill out a waiver.  Everyone...please let me know if you are in fact able to join us tomorrow and as well...if you are bringing anyone and how many.  It will help me with how I plan the WOD (what type....equipment necessary...etc.)  It will of course be a WOD that everyone is capable of.  What anyone accomplishes will be up to their current level of fitness. 

Things to bring: 

1.  The same kickass attitude you all always have.
2.  Your own water of course since we won't be at the gym.
      Hydrate well though before you come and remind your friends
      of the same.
3.  Just in case...you might want to bring gloves if you have
     any...not certain of the WOD yet but they might be helpful,
     not crucial or anything but helpful.  No...we're not doing bear
     crawls.
4.  Please, if you have a CrossFit Hot Springs t-shirt...wear it.  I'd really appreciate it. 
     Hopefully we can get a group photo before or afterwards.

Unless someone is out there at the gym frantically excavating and putting in a pool overnight...no...we won't be swimming tomorrow.  Now...if you have dumbbells at home and have access to a pool...by all means try this one out.  You could do it at the lake as well but I highly sugggest you have someone watch you because I thought I might drown when I swam for the first time in forever for the sprint triathlon back in June. 

So...for substitution...which still isn't the same as swimming...you'll either run 800 meters or row 1000 instead for each round.

Ok...several Youtube videos for you all to watch today.  They're important to watch because you're going to hear him discuss things many if not most of you all have heard me say many times.  This is who I got certified for the Olympic lifts by.  He's got numerous decades more experience than I have.  Please watch these...you all should pick up on any number of things in these three videos that will help you with your lifts.  Quite often...listening to someone else trying to impart the same knowledge, but slightly different...will help things sink in.

    Hello and Welcome to my Blog.
    My name is Jay Lawson, founder of CrossFit Hot Springs.  I've been following CrossFit methodologies (strength and conditioning) for over 11 years now and a certified Level 1 CrossFit Trainer since March of 2010 and a Level 2 CrossFit Trainer since July, 2016. I also hold CrossFit certifications  for Olympic Lifting, Endurance and Gymnastics.  As well, I'm a USAW Level 1 Sport Performance Coach.  I've been fitness minded since a very young age.  Nothing I've done before CrossFit was even remotely as challenging, rewarding or more exhilarating.
